"Often too much is said about visual art - the work should be able to engage the viewer without
explanation. There are many ways to look at an image and I don't want to limit anyone's interpretation or response. I did a memorial for a family that included an angel's feet and legs climbing Jacob's Ladder. Accompanying the angel was a bird that I intended as a visual metaphor for words to the departed, "away like a bird to your nest you will fly." When my client saw the full sized model, she started to cry and felt that it was her son's feet on the ladder. That was fine with me. Her interpretation meant more than anything I had to say about it.......Stained glass in the twenty-first century? I hope stained glass continues to grow out of its architectural foundations, evolving as architecture evolves but never losing site of its ancient connection as a vehicle of sacred expression in relationship to sacred space."
