Praying for Peace

Praying for Peace

The more we pray for peace, the more we will have to confront our own interior warfare. When we pray for peace, we imagine harmony rather than discord. We do not think that we will be thrown into the heart of the battle, whether internal or external, but that is exactly where God wants to lead us. If we are to be peacemakers, we will have to begin with ourselves and our own inner hostilities. To labor for a peaceful world, without examining our inner hostility is to fail to take seriously God's answer to our prayers.
