Art That Heals

Hondi Duncan Brasco holds a Master of Divinity from Yale Divinity School and is the director of the Center for Spiritual Growth at Christ Church in Bronxville, NY. She has served in several congregations, created nationally used educational materials, led retreats, lectured and has been a catalyst for spiritual communities in London and New York. Presently she is a delegate for the Anglican Consultative Council to the 48th session on the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women.

Ellen Miret is a fifth-generation Artist who has been working with glass since the mid-1970's. She specializes in stained glass for the religious community and for mausoleums.

Inspired by Ellen's stained glass installation at Christ Church, Hondi began working on a book about the windows and a creative collaboration between the two women began. After September 11th, their work took a different direction. Ellen responded by creating a Medicine Buddha while Hondi brought women together in a spiritual community to address the impact of 9/11.

Both women were involved in actions that they hoped would offer healing and realized that together they could create an exhibit that would invite the viewer into deeper contemplation and raise questions that lie at the heart of our experience in a broken world.
