My journey through Tibet began with a pilgrimage to Mt. Kailish in the Ngari region in the west then on to Purang located close to the Indian and Nepalese boarder, the former home of Lama Pema Wangdak. My traveling companions were 2 monks, Lama Kunga, a Tibetan monk who is the Director of the Pema T'sal Sakya Monastic Institute in Pokhara, Nepal and Rinchen, a friend from the US who studies at IBA, the International Buddhist Academy in Kathmandu, Nepal. From there we went to Lake Manasarovar and then traveled east stopping in Sakya, Shigatse, Gyantse and then on to Lhasa. I was drawn to the thresholds- to the liminal space and the anticipation of what may lie on the other side. It resulted in a series of compositions (sampled here) made from doorways and windows. Many other series have resulted from this journey and will be posted in the future.
